The curriculum, “Major Rivers,”  a Texas Water Education Program for elementary students (3rd- 7th grade) in Texas is a wonderful resource that can be used for the classroom.  It can be ordered from the Brazos River Authority.  The kit includes a teacher CD with the complete teacher's guide and video.  In addition to the teacher resources, 25 student workbooks are included.  To order the free materials:

The Major Rivers Texas Water Education Program gives valuable information that adults can learn from as well.  The program is divided into 8 lessons – Water in Texas (Introduction), The Water Cycle, Texas Water Supply and Planning, Texas Watersheds and River Basins, How Our Water Use Affects Our World, Water Treatment and Distribution, and Using Water Efficiently.  The curriculum includes a pretest and posttest, several hands-on investigations, a video, web resources, and information on water conservation.  The curriculum can be used for 2-3 weeks and gives valuable information to the student prior to visiting “The Brazos River Journey:  Texas Alive!”
