The curriculum,
“Major Rivers,” a Texas Water Education Program for
elementary students (3rd- 7th grade) in Texas is a wonderful resource that can be used
for the classroom. It can be ordered from the Brazos River
Authority. The kit includes a teacher CD with the complete
teacher's guide and video. In addition to the teacher resources,

The Major Rivers Texas Water Education Program gives valuable
information that adults can learn from as well. The program is divided
into 8 lessons – Water in Texas (Introduction), The Water Cycle, Texas
Water Supply and Planning, Texas Watersheds and River Basins, How Our
Water Use Affects Our World, Water Treatment and Distribution, and Using
Water Efficiently. The curriculum includes a pretest and posttest,
several hands-on investigations, a video, web resources, and information
on water conservation. The curriculum can be used for 2-3 weeks and
gives valuable information to the student prior to visiting “The Brazos
River Journey: Texas Alive!”

The purpose of this venture is to provide information specific to our
Brazos River Watershed especially to the older learner whether they are
secondary students, college students, or adults.
